Happy Easter!

Wishing all our beautiful family and friends a wonderful Happy Easter!  What a glorious season of new life, new beginnings and reflection on what our Savior did for each & every one of us on the cross. Praise to our King who has risen and is alive and living in and among us today!  Glory!

Vintage treasures!

I love going treasure hunting for my shop & home.  The only problem is that often times I want to keep what I have found for the shop.  It is a challenge, but I also don't want to be put on "hoarders" so  if I decide to keep something for the home, something else has to go to the shop. And, sometimes I'll bring something back home from the shop.  I can switch things up if I feel like it.  My home & shop are always changing.  My poor husband.  "oh, yes, by the way honey, I decided to rearrange the living room while you were at work today."
I go "shopping" for the shop every week to keep new things coming in.  Sometimes I only have a couple hours here & there to squeeze it in and usually I have to drag one of the kids with me.  But they are troopers about it. Seriously.  They are gonna be scoutn' for me by the time they are teenagers.  They will know the ropes.
The latest vintage treasures from my last shopping trip: Clockwise from top left: little metal boxes w/plastic drawers perfect for sitting on your desk for office or craft supplies.  My plan is to peel off those labels & give em a good scrub.  might even spray paint the fronts of the little drawers, metal globe w/zodiac signs, set of 4 aqua & gold glasses, old metal fan & milk glass sugar container, silly owl coffee mug,  1956 better homes & gardens decorating book. (I am keeping this.) :}

And the biggest score: A set of  vintage industrial adjustable seat drafting stools.  I love the wooden seat with the metal back & legs.  If you know anything about design or decorating, you will know that the "industrial" look is the new up & coming style. I found 3.  I will keep 1 to put at my art table & I suppose I will have to sell the pair.  If I had a bar height kitchen island/table in my house, well, lets just say they would all be staying in my house.  heehee:)

And, whilst mommy was busy snapping all of these photos of my newfound vintage treasures, Evelyn climbed up in "the wagon"-thats what we call our suv-and decided to drive in mommy's seat. She even found my giant diet coke.  I had left the door open after unloading all of my treasures and the little princess found her way in.  Don't worry gma's & gpa's, the keys were Not in the wagon!

Winter's Last Hurrah-Hopefully!

We had a blizzard blow through, hopefully the last one of the season.  Rather than wallow inside, we got out and embraced the winter white wonderland. Max had a snow day and the kids were super excited to get out and build a Mr. Frosty, make snow angels and throw snow balls.  We even sang "Frosty the Snowman" whilst building our new friend. Evelyn fell in love with Mr. Frosty over the holidays.  She was a super trooper the entire time until it came time for the photo shoot with Frosty.  Then, she was "all done," "Go inside momma."  Ok, sweet girl, lets get some quick pictures then we can go inside for some hot chocolate.

Max said, "I'll hold his hand ok?!"

She was joyful until picture time. :)

Max loves to take pictures. Even with unwilling participants.

Frosty is sportn' Daddy's vintage hot doggon ski cap. :)

Cheers to Mr. Frosty. Its been real. Now move on over for the Easter bunny.

Wear Spring Green!

Ok, so I know that I already mentioned that I am ready for spring but I will just say it again. I am ready for spring. Hoping to beckon on the spirit of spring, I decided to wear a combo of  kelly green & pink.   I mean, who doesn't love lush green grass & pretty pink flowers.  Mind you, a blizzard came blowing through our way today. Go figure.

Option 1:  A lightweight green sweatshirt worn over pink gingham button up top

Option 2:  Pink gingham top worn under same kelly green color but only in a cardi instead.

Which would you wear? The green cardi or green sweatshirt?

Pink gingham top: J-Crew factory
Kelly green cardi: Old Navy
Green sweatshirt: J-Crew factory
Jeans: Gap
Pastel pink chucks: gift from forevs ago
Rosette headband: hand-crafted by me available in my shop. :)

Linking up with the Pleated Poppy!

Thanks for stopping by friends!  Hope spring is coming to your neighborhood soon. :)

I love this boy!

My Max turned 6 yesterday!  Oh, how the time flies.  They tell you all the time how the time flies, but when you are getting little sleep, lost in laundry and dirty diapers, and your body is producing milk by the gallons, the time does not seem to fly by.  It comes in and settles for a while.
Looking back I can honestly say that yes, they are right, it will fly by. You will wake up one morning and they will be off to school, they will be reading, they won't be pooping in their pants,(hopefully), they will be dressing themselves and helping you out around the house.
AND, looking back I am now glad the time seemed to settle and linger.  You have a short window of time to bask in their seemingly angelness, breathe in the deep "baby" smell and relish in the innocence and 100 percent dependence on You.  The nursing, burping and rocking in the chair will end.
I think about the nights of little sleep and thankful that I can get my 8 hrs. now because I think at some point sleepless nights may come around again.  When he is out with his friends, off to college, building dreams and a career; I will wake up and worry. PRAY. And wish I could hold him and rock him in my arms again.

Max was so proud to wear his Birthday Boy badge to his first art show at the Factory Art Studios
Me and my guy, staying out late. Way way way way past bedtime.

Max's "big" present was a new big boy bike.  I think Evelyn was more excited about it than he was.  The $5 gifts seemed to win. Of course

Make a wish!

At 6 years old Max is incredibly friendly & social. He is friends with everyone and can talk to grown-ups and children alike.  He is laid back and easy going and is always eager to please.  He is obedient and receptive to instruction and ready to help.  He is intelligent and loves to learn.  He is kind and caring. He enjoys books about real life animals, bugs, dinosaurs, outer space.  National Geographic Kids magazine is one of his favorites.  He loves hot wheels, Cars2, and can spend hours w/markers & giant coloring pages or building tracks for his hot wheels.   He is also very good at manipulating & persuading, "brokering deals",if you will, to get what he wants.  Perhaps he will be a lawyer or go into politics with his ultra-popular persuasive ways.  :)  He is a wonderful big brother (most of the time) and is protective of his baby sister.  He's also a great little brother, able to "hang" with the big boys.

A Max Story:
Just a few nights ago, Max had a concert event for school.  He had already gotten to see the concert once already that afternoon but the guy was also performing that evening.  Max was soo so so excited & dying to go to the "dance party" at school again.  I was exhausted. I had been gone 3 of the last 4 nights & I knew my husband would be too when he got home from work which would have been just in time for him or me to leave and take Max to the "party".  Somehow, I mustered up the energy to go and changed out of my pjs.  My husband walked in the door from work & 2 minutes later Max & I were out the door.  (You know those hey honey!, bye honey! moments?!)

Max quickly found some friends and as I sat and watched ( I really watched him and not the performer most of the time) I could just feel the joy permeating from him.  And, suddenly, there it was, in the midst of his air guitars & head banging, he runs over to me and throws his arms around me and says, "I love you mom!"  In that one moment it made it all worth it.  It was all I could do to utter back "I love you too, honey, so so very much" and not become a hot mess of tears in front of the other parents, students and teachers.

happy happy birthday my sweet boy!
Love,
Mom
