Pray for Baby Peters

Yesterday, after what was supposed to be a routine checkup and a follow up sonogram, we received some devastating news. Our baby "Itty Bitty", has been diagnosed with a rare congenital heart defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). In short, this means that the positions of the pulmonary artery and the aorta have been switched. Baby is unable to get oxygen rich blood to the body and will not survive without immediate heart surgery. Although very complicated, the success/survival rate after surgery is very promising. However, there are some chromosomal abnormalities that can cause this defect. Downs syndrome and trisomy 18 (fatal) are a couple of them. Amniocentesis will give us the answers as to whether or not there is a chromosomal abnormality as well. We do not know much more at this point, but we will be meeting with a fetal cardiologist at Washington Hospital in St. Louis early next week. The baby will have to be delivered there. I am asking all of you who believe in the power of prayer to fight with me and my family & pray for our precious baby. Please also pray for me, Stephen, Max, Ed & Will as we try to process and cope with all of this.

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalm 139:13-14

Hey Megan,

Your mom used my ID to type in her comment (above). Just wanted to remind you that I am praying for you also, along with many of my praying, miracle-believing friends, with whom I have shared your situation(no name). Just continue to rest in His love and strength.

I came here from your sister's blog. (I do not know her either, I am completely a blog stalker.) My family will have you in our prayers.
When I was 22 weeks pregnant, our baby girl was diagnosed with Trisomy 18. Many abnormalities were detected. However, at 31 weeks, we were told there were no longer any signs of this. She was born at 38 weeks, with no signs of Trisomy 18 and none of the defects previously seen. Do not give up hope. God heals.

Father God- I lift up the Peters' family to you and ask that You place Your hands on Baby Itty Bitty and heal what needs to be healed. May You grant them all peace as the testing progresses and I pray that all the results come out good. You are the author of all things! You live in the prayers and praises of Your people! I praise You for Your presence in the lives of this special family and I know that You love this baby so much! Thank you, Jesus, for Your unfailing love- Amen
Love you, Marilyn
