A Beautiful March

We are off to a great start for spring. I almost feel like we didn't even have a winter. Almost. But really we only had like 2 or 3 small snows. We have been soaking in sunshine & relishing the great outdoors as much as possible. We have realized that our baby girl is a true "nature" girl. She adores being outside. Prefers it to the indoors & usually fusses when its time to go in. You can just see it in her..Its no wonder as both her momma & daddy love the outdoors as well.

On another note, the shop was given a wonderful opportunity with a segment on a local tv show called Ci Living. We felt so blessed to be a guest & for the free exposure this brought to the shop. Even though I was a ball of nerves preparing, when it actually came time, I know the Lord helped calm my nerves..It was a Live taping by the way! They even let me "redo" their set, removing their furniture & replacing it with mine. So fun! It was fun to see & hear local tv personalities peeking in & commenting on the new "retro" set.

Getting ready for my tv debut! Ha

Having fun on set

On air in 30 seconds! Yes, they actually countdown.

Just Vintage redos the WCIA-3 studio
Look how windy it was this day! Really, I'm not blowing a fan in her face like they do for the models or anything! All natural baby.

My nature girl & I's day trip to Walnut Point. I packed a picnic lunch not sure how she would do but she sat on the blanket the whole time while we ate our lunch. My heart was melting.

I'm just a little bit onery. Wee bit.

Stephen said that in some of the pictures she looks like a camp counselor saying to the campers "Come on guys, lets go."

Picnic
Stephen & I also squeezed in a trip to Indiana. We went to Nashville, Indiana one of the days & went to all these cute little shops. You know I love my palm trees so had to get a pic next to this "one" covered in license plates.
Max turned 5 on Mar. 2nd. Seems like this birthday was a big one. He's grown so much just in the past few months & is becoming more & more independent. He is smart, sweet, caring, outgoing, clever, social, & he's a terrific negotiator. I wonder how much longer he will want me to pick him up & carry him to bed, sing him a nigh' night song, & give him a hug & kiss on the lips..I am hoping his love for books will be my excuse to snuggle in close & read to him or watch/listen to him read to me for lots more years to come. And, we finally got a swing up for him. Gma Elaine & Gpa Rich came out for a visit & it was a good project for the guys.

In todays news, my baby girl & I went to the Factory Art Studios & visited our friend Darby at her Underground Vintage Studio. www.undergroundvintagestudio.net It is always so fun to see Darby & soak in all the artsy creativeness going on in that place. I came home with two new awesome pillows but would have come home with a whole wagon load if I could. :)

That is a chicken mcnugget in her hand. Oh goodness.

Yes, praise Jesus for this glorious day. Thank you for all that You do for us big & small each & every day.

Hope you enjoyed all the pics. I know there was alot!

What's been going on.

I feel like I say this often, but really,"Where has the time gone?" I turn around and its been a month since I last posted on the old blog. Evelyn is walking, Max is turning 5 next week, I have tulips coming up, and Stephen & I both had birthdays. Spring break plans, Easter plans, June beach vacation are already in the works. My brain is stuck back in January. Happy New years! Life does. not. stop. Not even for one millisecond. It keeps going whether we like it or not. Thank goodness we serve a God we can "rest" in & give our anxietys to. In the busyness of our lives its important to give ourselves some quiet moments. Alone. No persons, gadgets or electronics allowed. Just you, God, & your Bible. Today I encourage you to take that time for yourself. If you have young ones, treasure each moment you have with them because you can't go back and redo those moments.

I took all four children by myself to the skating rink recently. (It was a Sun. afternoon so Stephen was at the shop) Evelyn loved the surprisingly nice & clean indoor playground.
This was Max's first time skating. He was super excited. It was hilarious. He actually did pretty well though. He didn't cry or complain at all if he fell. Just got right back up & kept on going.

Big brothers helped him alot too. William & Max. Aren't they cute?
We found a home for this sweet little kitten. He just showed up at our house one day. He was very friendly & boy could he purr. Wish we could have kept him but Stephen's allergies..

With this mild weather, Evelyn & I have been enjoying walks thru our country neighborhood. Check out those wispy clouds-they made think of feathers.
I just adore
this old school house nearby.

Me & my babies at my "pajama" birthday party. :)
And I'll end with a before & after of a cute "gossip bench" that I just refinished & recovered.

After! Sunny yellow paint w/distressed areas that expose a light blue underneath. (hard to see distressed areas in photo)

Happy 2012!

So Happy New Year friends & family! Its still not to late to say that is it?! :)We had a glorious Christmas with our families although it was filled with lots of "windshield" time. We drove first to NE then down to KS, Stephen & I drove back to Illinois for husband & wife time & to run the shop & after a few days drove to middle MO to meet my parents with the kids. Needless to say, we were ready to get back home & settle into our routine. Enjoy some pics of the kids!
Max in the Armor of God. He looved this. We have been practicing reciting the armor of God so it was super cool for him to have the utensils to put to it.
Evelyn loved her baby dolls best. She rocks them & pats them & even sort of "sings" to them. So precious

Christmas outfit #2. :) Looks like she's making a wish upon a star.
Max opening his Hot Wheels track. He wanted one so badly. He's played with it every. single. day. Sharing.

Thats all I got for this one. Night Night.

Im Dreaming of a White...Kitchen..

Although I am not the cook in the family, (my husband is the most awesomest chef); I long for a shiny new white kitchen. Big frig with ice & water in the door, gourmet stove, island, eat in seating for a family of 6, tile or hardwood flooring, a chandelier. :) Much time is spent in a kitchen & revolves around the kitchen & even though I don't cook, I've been know to bake the occasional nana bread, fix quick lunches for the kids, make a pot of coffee or when I'm feeling really Betty Crocker:grilled cheese or macn'cheese. I would love for my husband to have plenty of counter space & to feel inspired in our kitchen. I know that someday this dream will come true. It will. Any one of these kitchens would do:

I really covet that table & chairs. Saw one similar, but the table top was white formica, a couple years ago at an antiques store & still kicking myself for not snatching it up. What was I thinking? And the chalkboard paint. I could write scriptures of the week or my hubby could scribble menu notes.
The pops of color. That. CLOCK. pink lilies, eggs in a cute container, the numbers & glass front cabinetry. Great little accents in this one.
This one is just so bright and cheery! How could you come to breakfast & be grumpy in this kitchen? It would be against the rules. Loven' that chrome & red stove. And love the red & turquoise combo! So fresh!
Love the stainless island working with the stove & giant frig. The natural looking rug under the island & backsplash adds nice warmth & contrast.

And for now, this is what I have to work with. Not bad for a "little house in the country" kitchen on a tight budget. This is what it looked like before my $100 makover. Much improvement eh?!

And just so ya know, I am dreaming of a white Christmas too. Will be in Nebraska & Kansas so hopefully the Lord will bless us with some shimmery snow. Can't wait to see all my family. Its always good to go home & be with the ones you love the most. My momma & daddy(yes, I still sometimes call them that at 31) with my babies when they came for a visit in October.Grandpa holding Evelyn pointing out one of the many praying mantis that moved in to our porch area for a month or so. Literally, we counted at one time 15 of them. They were breeding. The males would come & "impregnate" the females & their bellies would get huge & then the males would die.Max & I & the giant pumpkin. I think it looks kinda gross.

Well, thats it for tonight folks. Hope you are all enjoying the true reason for the season-our Savior's birth! Remember that when you are trying to get last minute shopping done, wrapping, baking, sending out cards, packing, cleaning.....It helps keep everything in perspective.

Toodles,

Megan
